Blood and Glass
The subject is the smashed and broken windows at an abandoned synagogue in Romania. But the events at the Tree of Life Synagogue shooting in Pittsburgh, USA on 27 October 2018, inspired me to start this painting. Two weeks later, it was the 80th anniversary of Kristallnacht, a pogrom against Jews throughout Nazi Germany on 9–10 November 1938, carried out by SA paramilitary forces and civilians. These terrible events inspired me to paint this statement.
