Much of Budapest was built when Hungary was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Some of these older parts of the city are run down, lacking investment, adorned by graffiti. But look carefully, and one can find wonderful architecture. These doors date from the Art Nouveau period, with wonderful fluid shapes, intricate iron work, and sweeping curves.
